Since its revival in 1996, CHICAGO on Broadway has been a total crowd-pleaser. As soon as audiences enter the venue, they’re transported to the roaring ’20s. A big part of why Chicago’s been such a hit is the unforgettable soundtrack by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Their bold tunes hit home, reminding fans how easy it is to get swept up in the glitz and glam.
The show is all about Roxie Hart, your typical housewife turned nightclub dancer who finds herself in hot water after bumping off her lover. Talk about drama! But Roxie’s not one to go down without a fight. She spins a web of lies to fool everyone from the media to her fellow inmate, Velma Kelly. And with the slickest lawyer in Chicago on her side, she turns her crime into a media circus straight out of today’s headlines.

Fun fact: Believe it or not, this outrageous tale of CHICAGO actually has its roots in a play from 1926 with the same name. It draws heavily from the real-life court cases covered by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins for the Chicago Tribune. She reported on the trials of Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner, both accused of murder. The media and the public ate up the sensationalist coverage, turning these women into instant celebrities. This frenzy coincided with the Jazz Age, a time when societal norms for women were changing, allowing them more freedom than before.
Don’t miss out when CHICAGO comes to Oklahoma City for a very short time! Each performance of this musical will run for two hours and 30 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission. The show may be inappropriate for children below the age of 12. Children under 4 years of age will not be permitted inside the theatre.
