The story revolves around the life of prisoner 24601 Jean Valjean in 19th-century France and his mishaps in the times of the post-revolutionary era. It happens after Jean Valjean’s release from prison for stealing bread nineteen years earlier than the current time. When the times are going the opposite way, light is shed as Bishop Myriel helps Jean Valjean stand his ground to become a better man, which he eventually succeeds in. If it’s going smoothly, there’s gonna be a drastic gloom as Jean Valjean crosses paths with the people that will change the way his life will go: the loving mother Fantine, the revolutionary Marius, and the main antagonist, Inspector Javert. As it was adapted to movies and television series, it became more popular and inspiring to the audience and also the readers, and it sparked more adaptations in different productions, including musicals. In 1980, Les Miserables: The Musical premiered in Paris, and its first English language version was released in 1985 in the West End. Les Miserables bagged several awards, including the prestigious Tony and Grammy Awards, winning awards including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, and Best Musical Cast Show Album in 1987.
